This week’s video puts Timothy front and center, literally. It features the questioning of Pvt. Ferol during the court-martial in Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory (1957). Also in the scene are Richard Anderson, Kirk Douglas, and Adolphe Menjou.
It was this scene that made me fall in love with Tim all those years ago. I’m fairly certain I’m not the only one, either.
The Timothy Carey Experience 
This is the first movie I also recall seeing Tim Carey in – what stood out for me was how unusual his performance was – he doesn’t play it for conventional pathos, he really gets into the guts of this confused, frightened, trapped man about to be killed senselessly. His acting is so truthful it’s almost painful to watch.

Exactly – especially during the execution scene. I still find that scene difficult to watch to this day.
