Video of the Week: “The Secret Mission”

Our video of the week showcases another of Timothy’s earliest performances. It’s one of the six episodes of Cowboy G-Men in which he appeared, “The Secret Mission”. Baby boomer cowgirls and cowboys first gathered around their Saturday morning televisions for this one on October 4, 1952.

He’s got a fairly substantial part as henchman to main bad guy Robert Lowery, and he gets a great fight scene with series star Russell Hayden. Enjoy this one, it’s pretty good as these things go. Except for those damn kids. No idea who played them. Holy cow, they’re annoying.

Today we revisit one of the six episodes of Cowboy G-Men in which Timothy appeared. It’s “The Secret Mission,” first airing on October 4, 1952. Tim’s henchman sneaks around thinking good guy Pat Gallagher (Russell Hayden) is asleep. The joke is on him!

This series is readily available on commercially and non-commercially released DVD (I believe it’s fallen into the public domain); quality isn’t so great, but it’s still a valuable record of some of Tim’s earliest work. Check it out!

Today we look at another pic from the Cowboy G-Men episode “The Secret Mission,” which premiered on October 4, 1952 – just over 60 years ago! Wow. Timothy, Robert Lowery and X Brands are spying on cowboy G-man Russell Hayden in the next room, trying to determine what his next move will be.

This is a rare shot of Tim in repose, which didn’t happen very often.

Our pic of the day takes another look at the Cowboy G-Men episode “The Secret Mission,” first airing on October 4, 1952. Timothy was teamed once again with X Brands as henchmen of the main bad guy, Robert Lowery.

The television Western was fertile ground for many a young actor newly arrived in Hollywood in the 1950s. Timothy also appeared in an episode of the popular series Sheriff of Cochise (which wasn’t really a Western), “The Great Train Robbery,” which has so far eluded my grasp.

Today’s pic is from another of Tim’s six appearances on the low-budget Western series Cowboy G-Men. The episode is “The Secret Mission,” which first aired on October 4, 1952. Tim is the #1 henchman of bad guy Robert Lowery. Also in this scene are two of the most annoying child actors you’ll ever see. I’m not kidding.

Lowery appeared with Tim in three episodes of this series. He was a seasoned film actor by this point, and would have a long career in television, mostly in Westerns. He was also the second actor to portray Batman. Kind of resembles Clark Gable, doesn’t he?
