Video of the Week: Trailers From Hell on “Paths of Glory”

As promised, this week’s video is the Trailers From Hell treatment of Stanley Kubrick‘s Paths of Glory (1957). The reviewer is the late George Hickenlooper, who directed both feature films and documentaries.  Of special interest is Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse (1991), on the travails that accompanied the filming of Francis Ford Coppola‘s Apocalypse Now (1979).

Hickenlooper has great things to say about the film and particularly Timothy’s performance. This is a wonderful site that provides hours of enjoyment and illumination. Check it out!

Video of the Week: Trailers From Hell on “The Killing”

One of my fellow Careyphiles hipped me to the wonderful website Trailers From Hell. It features trailers galore with commentary on the film from some rather awesome filmmakers. Our video for this week is the trailer for Stanely Kubrick‘s The Killing (1956), with commentary by Michael Lehmann, the director of one of my favorite films, Heathers (1988).

Tune in again next Wednesday when we will feature TFH’s treatment of Paths of Glory (1957), with commentary by the late George Hickenlooper, director of Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse (1991).
