Today we take another look at John Flynn‘s The Outfit (1973). Ill-tempered thug Jake Menner is not too happy about Earl Macklin (Robert Duvall) interrupting his card game. I am not 100% certain who the actor sitting next to Timothy is.
Many of Tim’s previous co-stars appear in this great film, including Robert Ryan, Elisha Cook Jr., Marie Windsor, Tom Reese, Roland LaStarza, Emile Meyer, and Roy Jenson. Flynn also directed the cult favorite Rolling Thunder (1977), the inspiration for Quentin Tarantino’s short-lived film distribution company.
The Timothy Carey Experience 
The wonderful and large, but underused, cast includes Anita O’Day. When I first saw The Outfit, I was surprised that she did not sing anything. The Internet Movie Database, however, says that she has a song, “I Concentrate On You,” in the movie. I guess I have to see this film again.

Yeah, I honestly don’t remember a song by her either. I do think that’s her singing in a scene in a bar, but it’s so brief it’s hard to tell. Definitely time for a rewatch. I absolutely love her set in “Jazz on a Summer’s Day”!! She’s always been a big favorite of mine.
